Forest Walk with panorama view

There are a whole set of lovely waymarked walks up and about Loch Ard and in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. I like to start at the Milton car park, 10 minutes up the Loch Ard road out of Aberfoyle, and follow the waymarked walk around Lochan Spling, a mini loch, whose path is dotted with nature-inspired sculptures. Another favourite is a circular walk along the wide forest tracks then cuts up through the forest on a short steep path up and over Uamh Mhor hill and back down the other side to the forest track, which then loops back past Loch Ard to the car park. It takes just under an hour but gives a panoramic Trossachs-style view and has a couple of benches at the top for peaceful picnics (see the Loch Ard Loop).

Picnic Planner

In Aberfoyle, try the friendly Trossachs Butcher for a hot pie, or head to the Wee Blether Tearoom beyond Aberfoyle in Kinlochard and stock up on a takeaway cakes and a sandwich or two (spring/summer only).
