Planning in the National Park
The National Park Authority has
planning powers to decide all planning and related applications within the
boundary of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. We also prepare and
adopt a Local Plan, to guide our planning decision-making. These pages provide everything you
need to know about planning in the National Park.
If you are thinking of applying for
planning permission, listed building consent, advertisement consent, or wish to view planning applications submitted to the Park Authority, then these pages
will help you. We are currently dealing with a number of large scale planning applications including Cononish Gold Mine and the former Torpedo Test Site at Loch Long, near Arrochar.
If you have a concern about
unauthorised land-use, building or engineering operations or how we monitor
conditions on planning permissions then our Enforcement & Development
Monitoring team can assist you.
We have many Listed
Buildings and Conservations
Areas in the National Park in order to protect and enhance the cultural
heritage.
If you wish to do works to trees that
are protected by a Tree Preservation Order you will require consent. We are happy to answer questions about trees that are protected in the National Park.
Our Forward Planning team prepare the National Park Local Plan and supporting documents which guide planning
decisions, making sure that new development is of the highest quality, is
promoted in the right places and delivers the aspirations and aims of the
National Park.
Our Planning & Access Committee
meet once a month to discuss and make decisions on planning applications and
planning policy issues. These are put forward as committee papers and are
presented by planning officers. All meetings are open to the public to attend.
The Planning Forum enables us to
share views and experiences of the Planning Service and discuss ideas for its
improvement.
The main aim of our Planning Service is to facilitate high quality,
sustainable and appropriate development in pursuance of the aims of the
National Park. Our customers are varied and it is important that anyone who
uses our service clearly understands what we do, the standards we aim to meet
and what they can do in the event we do not meet those standards. Our Planning
Service Charter explains
what levels of service can be expected from our different teams.
Please contact
us if you have any feedback or would like to make a complaint about the planning service.
