National Park Apprenticeship Scheme
A great example of what can develop out of the Area Networks is the Community Partnership’s Apprenticeship Support Scheme. The lack of training opportunities for young people is an issue for many of the Park’s communities.
A few years ago at a Trossachs Area Network, the idea for an apprenticeship scheme was discussed. This idea was carried forward and as a result, a Park wide initiative was established.
The scheme is jointly funded by Scottish Enterprise, Lomond and Rural Stirling Leader+ and the National Park Authority.
Focussing on plumbing, building and electrical trades, a Business Development Officer offers support and assistance to local businesses interested in employing apprentices.
Local businesses participating in the Apprenticeship Scheme, provide valuable training for the National Park’s young people and aid economic development in the Park.
