Networking
Area Networks
Working in partnership is a key principle of the Community Futures Programme. Area Networks were established in 2003 to enable communities to learn from each other, and to identify and collaborate on shared issues.
These generally meet quarterly, and offer community organisations (Trusts, Community Councils and other community groups) an opportunity to meet each other in their own geographic area. There are 4 Area Networks, each with 5 or 6 communities participating:
- Argyll Area Network - Sandbank, Benmore & Kilmun, Ardentinny, Lochgoil, Strachur, Arrochar & Tarbet.
- Loch Lomond Area Network - Arrochar & Tarbet, Luss & Arden, Balloch, Kilmaronock, Croftamie, Drymen, Buchanan.
- Trossachs Area Network - Gartmore, Strathard including Aberfoyle, Callander, Port of Menteith, Trossachs including Brig o’ Turk, Doune & Deanston, Thornhill & Blairdrummond.
- Breadalbane Area Network - Balquhidder, Lochearnhead, Strathyre, Killin, St Fillans, Strathfillan including Crianlarich & Tyndrum.
The Area Networks are also an arena into which the National Park Authority and partner agencies find it easier to step – as they bring together a number of communities, and provide a convenient and effective framework for consultation and information sharing.
