March 2009
Staying Alive!

This session covered how community organisations ‘stay alive’...how they sustain themselves over a long period of time, how they stay relevant and how they sometimes change. The session explored how to work with and look after volunteers, how to delegate and involve committee and members and how to develop new leadership.

October 2008
Make it Happen

This session covered ‘How We Did It’ case studies and good practice in preparing, developing and running projects. We looked at:

  • successful examples of project development
  • case studies on how community organisations have planned and raised funds for projects
  • how they have developed and managed them
  • what the benefits have been
  • update on current funding sources
  • Climate Challenge Fund, Rural Development Programme, LEADER & others

The case studies were all relevant to projects that communities are currently trying to develop in the National Park.

It involved information & networking, small group sessions and one to one surgery sessions with communication specialists. It covered newsletters, websites, presentations, making a pitch, and communicating with members, the wider community, funders, agencies and the media.
