Callander conservation area regeneration scheme

A scheme to maintain and restore the historic character of Callander's conservation area is now up and running. Funding of £500,000 has been secured from the National Park Authority and Historic Scotland until 2014. Funding will go towards grants for repairs and improvements to homes and businesses in the conservation area.
 
The conservation area covers the older parts of Callander around Leny Road, Leny Feus, Main Street, Bridgend and Bracklinn Road.
 
 
If you own or rent an historic property in this area you may be eligible for a grant towards repairs or the reinstatement of architectural details to your building.
 

Repair of Historic Buildings

Grants are available for up to a maximum of 70% of the cost of eligible works including:
  • structural repairs
  • re-roofing in traditional materials
  • chimney repairs
  • repair/renewal of lead work and guttering
  • repairs to stonework and render
  • repairs to windows, doors and external joinery
  • boundary walls and railings
  • reinstatement of architectural detail

Reinstatement of Architectural Detail

Grants are available for up to a maximum of 85% of the cost of eligible works including:
  • traditional sash and case windows
  • traditional doors
  • decorative iron work e.g. finials and railings
  • lime pointing
Please note items such as routine maintenance and redecoration, conversions or alterations, interior fitting out or renewal of services will not qualify for grant aid.
 
The grant scheme will also promote enhancements to the streetscape and fund training events, interpretation and advice leaflets.
