National Park Upland Management Training
21 January 2010
Loch Lomond & The
Trossachs National Park has been delivering a programme of free training events
for farmers and anyone managing areas of land in order to address some of the
key issues and opportunities facing them. These courses are being
delivered by consultants from Scottish Agricultural College and there is one
course remaining in the programme for 2009/10.
An upland management course
will be held on Tuesday 2 March, 10am to 4pm at the McLaren Lesser Hall,
Killin. The course will focus on sustainable systems to enhance the condition
of upland habitats in the National Park whilst benefiting a range of species
including black grouse. The course includes a site visit along Glen Dochart
(weather dependent) to look at grazing management with a focus on wintering of
livestock. Practices such as heather and bracken management and native
woodland creation will also be discussed onsite. Appropriate management options
available under the Scottish Government Rural Priorities Scheme will be
discussed.
If you would like to
register for the workshop or would like more information contact Linda
