Out and About with Ranger Claire Travis 23/04/09
Hi, my name’s Claire Travis
and I‘m the team leader for the National Park Rangers based around Loch Lomond. Fiona has invited me to give you my news
from around the Park.Easter weekend saw lots of
people enjoying the spring sunshine and the fantastic scenery of the Park.
Millions of people come to the Park every year and my colleagues and I are kept
busy working with local communities and helping visitors to the area enjoy this
very special place.
With so
many visitors to the Park, our Ranger teams are now working revised shift
patterns to make sure we are out and about when you are. So if you spot a
National Park Ranger, don’t be shy, come over for a chat!
Although the vast majority
of visitors to the Park behave responsibly, there are a small number of people
that cause problems with anti-social behaviour.
This season we’ll be working
with our partners as part of our ‘Respect the Park’ campaign to tackle issues
like litter, noise disturbance, wildlife and environmental crimes and road
safety in the Park.
We now have a dedicated
National Park Police Officer to co-ordinate tackling anti-social behaviour and
four of our National Park Rangers have trained as Police Special Constables.
We will be regularly
patrolling busy areas of the Park, helping the police make sure it continues to
be a safe, secure and enjoyable place to visit!
Hope to see you soon!
Claire
