Volunteer story – Neil

Neil has been volunteering with Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park for over five years. Having enjoyed spending time outdoors it was an opportunity to help and encourage other people to gain access and enjoy the National Park.

Some of the volunteer activities Neil has been involved in include: path maintenance, building nest boxes on Inchailloch, visitor surveys, wetland bird counts, and even island clean-ups.

Neil explains what he’s enjoyed about volunteering at the National Park: “I’ve loved meeting and working with so many interesting people both rangers and volunteers and I‘ve gained a greater understanding of the Park’s aims and responsibilities. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of volunteering with the Park to stop thinking about it and get on and do it!”

JackieVolunteer story – Jackie

Jackie has been volunteering with the National Park for just over a year and shares her experiences below.

“I would recommend becoming a volunteer with the National Park to anyone. It's one of the best things I've ever become involved with in my life!

I always knew Scotland was beautiful, but I'm getting to see so much more of it than ever before because of different projects. It's so satisfying to go to an area, wherever it may be, armed with a litter pick and a bin bag and come away knowing you've played a part in keeping Scotland at its best so that others can enjoy it too.

Of course, it goes without saying that it's a great social event too. I know I've made some good friends and enjoyed days out at the same time.”
