What We Do

The Three Core Activities of the National Park Authority

  • Conservation - ensuring our natural heritage, land and water resources are sustainably managed and protected.
  • Visitor Experience - establishing and promoting the National Park as one of Scotland’s premiere sustainable tourism destinations where our special qualities are respected and enjoyed by all.
  • Rural Development - enabling and promoting sustainable development that supports and enhances local distinctiveness and sense of place, encourages enterprise and innovation and improves the quality of life for our local communities.

The National Park Partnership Plan

  • The National Park Partnership Plan (2012) tells you everything we want to achieve up to 2017.
  • We are required to make this plan available to the public by the Scottish Government’s National Park (Scotland) Act 2000.
  • The Plan guides the policies and actions of all the organisations and individuals involved in running the Park.

The National Park Authority Corporate Plan

  • The Corporate Plan sets out how the National Park Authority will make sure the aims in the National Park Partnership Plan will be achieved.
  • Our Annual Reports are a great source of information detailing the work of the National Park Authority.
