The Balloch Village Plans Project

Sustrans has partnered with Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and West Dunbartonshire Council on an ambitious project to develop design proposals for the remodeling of the area around Balloch train station and the village centre.

What are you trying to achieve?

The Balloch Station and Village Square Street Design Project builds on the extensive engagement undertaken through the ‘Live in Balloch’ Charette process that took place in 2015 and 2016.

We want to:

  • Make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to travel on foot and by cycle to local facilities in the area
  • Redesign the public spaces around the train station and within the Village Centre so that they feel safer and more attractive places to spend time in or travel through

The area we are looking to improve is along Balloch Road between Pier Road and Carrochan Road.

We’ll be running events in the area from September 2016 to develop ideas. Feedback from the events will be used to form the design proposals which will then be trialed on street in April 2017.

How can I get involved?

Whether you live or work in Balloch, travel through to access local facilities or just visiting, the Sustrans team would love to hear from you. We need your input to ensure we put forward proposals that work for the whole community.

We want to hear your thoughts on what makes your experience less enjoyable and what our priorities should be in order to make a difference to your daily journeys.

Please use CommonPlace below, our new interactive toolkit, to tell us what you think and see what others are saying about the project. The CommonPlace data will help summarise the findings of each engagement stage and allow us to inform the design process along with feedback we receive at events.
