Ben A'an

Start from Forestry Commission Scotland Leannach car park on the west side of the A821, 8 km north of Aberfoyle. Note, this access road is windy and steep in places, and can become icy in winter.

The red waymarked route is circular and follows forest roads and paths which are firm and dry underfoot. It can be ridden in either direction, but there is a very steep section of path just north of the turn off for Gleann Riabhach (blue waymarked) which connects two forest roads. This may determine the preferred direction to ride, as some horses may find it easier to go up this steep hill and others down. If you ride in a clock wise direction, this section will be downhill. There are also sections of the route where there may be some loose surface material.

Ben Venue

Enjoy the diversity of Achray Forest as the trail leads you through native woodland, young conifer plantation and mature mixed conifer forest. Along the way there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery with fantastic views of Ben Venue, Ben A’an and Ben Ledi. Loch Achray and glimpses of Tigh Mor house can also be seen.
