Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park - Welcome

Hills & Mountains

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park is very popular with hillwalkers and 'Munro baggers' alike partly due to its close proximity to Scotland's largest cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh, but also due to its spectacular scenery and high density of accessible hill tops and Munros.
The Park contains extensive mountain areas, mainly located in the north and contains 21 Munros including Ben Lomond and Ben More. If you don’t feel quite ready to bag a Munro, there are 19 Corbetts (mountains over 2,500 feet or 762 metres) to be climbed! These include The Cobbler (Ben Arthur), Ben Ledi and Ben Venue.
If you are out hillwalking please remember to:
  • Wear suitable footwear (walking boots)
  • Take waterproofs and additional warm clothing
  • Take a map and compass and know how to use them
  • Carry spare food and drink
  • Let someone know your route plans
  • Plan within your capabilities
  • Check local weather forecasts: www.metoffice.gov.uk
  • Plan for the unexpected by carrying a first aid kit, survival bag, torch, whistle and a pen-knife or multi-tool
  • Mobile phone reception can be patchy. It is advisable to carry phones supporting several service providers
  • Always follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code
