Spectacular Waterfall

Bracklinn Bridge is currently closed. Check for further updates before visiting this site. Please do not enter the bridge or climb over the barriers currently in place.

This 1.5-hour circular walk takes in the dramatic Bracklinn Falls, featuring an unexpectedly theatrical gorge with huge slabs of rock descending down to the river. Park at Bracklinn Falls car park, just above Callander, and follow the path to the falls, then cross the attractive wooden bridge and continue steeply up and left through the forest. Once out into the clearing overlooking the river below there’s a picnic bench – the ideal place to stop, eat and rest. Then descend to the road and back along to the car park. It’s a good path but with some steep parts, and the falls are a tad vertiginous for nervous types. However, the walk to the falls is suitable for baby buggies and only 30 mins there and back.

Picnic Planner

Callander has a plethora of places to buy great food, among them Achray Farm Shop with its award-winning Sticky Toffee Puddings, and Mhor Bread which sells organic bread, including a fab tear-and-share onion, cheese and sundried tomato loaf that’s perfect for a picnic, plus giant filled ciabatta loaves, which you can buy a slice of, not to mention a huge assortment of hot pies, humungous meringues, cakes and traybakes galore. If cheese and olives is more your thing, head for Deli Ecosse, a super friendly wee deli by the old church.
