Practical conservation volunteers

As a practical conservation volunteer you will work as part of a team to improve the natural environment in Callander. You’ll help with woodland management, biodiversity recording, meadow management, river bank protection and path maintenance.

Throughout the year we will be running practical conservation activities. To start with we will be undertaking some woodland management tasks in Callander Crags and Leny Woods. There will be weekend and weekday volunteering opportunities:

  • Wednesday 24th April – we will perform a variety of woodland management tasks, including removing non native species, vegetation management and also tidying the sites that will be excavated as part of the Leny Woods archaeology project in May.
  • Sunday 5th May  – we will be helping with woodland management tasks at the Callander Crags woodland, including removing non native species and vegetation management.
  • Tuesday 28th May – we will be taking part in the Cleaner Callander community litter pick in the morning from 10am – 12noon and then we will be heading to the Callander Crags in the afternoon to continue with our woodland management tasks.

Sign up to our mailing list to receive full details about these volunteering activities.

Individuals, families and groups of people are all welcome to get involved and volunteer. All activities will be run by a leader and full instruction and supervision will be provided. No experience needed!
