Loch Lomond Rainforest – progress update

Nearly half of the National Park is within the rainforest zone.

This exciting project, in collaboration with the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest, is helping to protect and enhance this important natural asset in tackling the twin crises of nature loss and the climate emergency.

It includes:

  • Removing rhododendron and establishing the right level of herbivore grazing to support the woodland to regenerate naturally
  • Tree planting to expand the rainforest
  • Creating volunteering opportunities
  • Delivering an education programme for communities, visitors and industries
  • Exploring long term funding through innovative green finance opportunities.
