How we perform

We annually review our performance (statistically and qualitatively) and publish a document known as the Planning Performance Framework (PPF).  It represents a holistic view of our performance, full of case studies, an overview of our statistics and a list of service improvements for the coming year and a report on the delivery of our service improvement targets from last year’s PPF.

The Scottish Government uses this report to consider our performance against agreed national markers and it is used as a framework by planning authorities across Scotland as part of the ‘drive towards consistently high quality planning service across the country’.

The highlights of this year’s report include:

In-depth case studies on:

  • New Housing and Village Green for West Loch Lomondside Communities
  • Cameron House, Large-scale expansion of 5 star resort
  • Strathard Framework
  • Community Place Plans
  • Cononish Gold and Silver Mine
  • Continuous Improvement – Telling the Planning Story

New improvements

  • New approach to validation of applications
  • New approach to assessing application and negotiating changes – encouraging proposals to be withdrawn.
  • Improving frontline complaint recording and monitoring.

  • Major Applications team update on housing approvals at Callander South Masterplan area and Stirling Road, Drymen.
