How we perform

We annually review our performance (statistically and qualitatively) and publish a document known as the Planning Performance Framework (PPF).  It represents a holistic view of our performance, full of case studies, an overview of our statistics and a list of service improvements for the coming year and a report on the delivery of our service improvement targets from last year’s PPF.

The Scottish Government uses this report to consider our performance against agreed national markers and it is used as a framework by planning authorities across Scotland as part of the ‘drive towards consistently high quality planning service across the country’.

The highlights of this year’s report include:

In-depth case studies on:

  • Balmaha – Delivering Affordable Housing
  • Town centre enhancement – placemaking
  • Monitoring Framework
  • Action Programme
  • Lochgoil Community Action Plan (CAP)
  • Enforcement and Monitoring

New improvements

  • Major Applications team – to project manage our major cases such as Cononish Gold & Silver Mine and West Riverside tourism application
  • Development Planning Clinic – to share and discuss important cases as a team
  • Adoption of our Supplementary Guidance

  • Run of river hydro monitoring,
  • Our Built heritage grant scheme, and
  • Tree Preservation Order Project
