The pilot of the Trossachs Explorer Shuttle Bus has come to an end, having welcomed thousands of passengers during its run from 1st July to 30th September 2024.
The transport pilot is one of the first projects announced as part of the new National Park Partnership Plan which sets out a long-term vision for the National Park as a thriving place that is nature positive and carbon negative, with sustainable transport to and around the Park playing an important part.
The pilot service focused on one area of the National Park and now serves as a valuable proof of concept for how sustainable rural transport can support both visitors and local communities. The Park Authority will now take the learnings from this pilot and work with key partners and stakeholders to develop longer-term, more sustainable travel options for the entire National Park. Income generated from the pilot will be reinvested in future sustainable transport research and development, with the hope of expanding services like the Trossachs Explorer in the years to come.
