Strathard Framework

Update: This consultation has now closed. The Framework is now published and can be found by clicking here.

Over the last two years, we have been working with representatives from communities in Strathard to develop a shared vision for the area which helps to create a healthier and more climate-responsive Strathard that is a great place to live, work and visit.

A steering group made up of representatives from Strathard communities and public agencies has led a lengthy engagement process with key groups throughout 2020 to hear ambitions for the area and explore development opportunities and land use aspirations around this vision.

Following this process, a Framework has now been drafted which sets out areas which are sensitive to or have scope for development or land use change over the next 20 years.  The Framework is about sustainable land use in its widest sense – about how land could be used and managed and the benefits this could provide through promoting nature based solutions and restoring nature. It is also about ensuring we meet the development needs for people living and working here, and for the many people who visit the area to enjoy its awe inspiring landscape and special qualities. More information about the Framework is available in the video presentations below:

  1. What is the Strathard Framework?
  2. Planning issues and drivers in Strathard
  3. Land use issues in Strathard

Update: The consultation is now closed. Thank you to everyone who has submitted a response. Please find the published Framework here.
