Callander – thank you!

On Saturday the LIVE Park team spent the day at Callander Youth Project‘s Gala Day listening to the views of people from around the National Park.

We were particularly pleased to get the chance to spend some time working with young people to help them bring to life the improvements that they would like to see in their area, and how Planning can help. Here’swhat they had to say:

Despite the bad weather, spirits weren’t dampened, the barbecue was still fired up and the bouncy castle was well-used!  Lots of people turned up and took the time to discuss our Main Issues Report and the ideas within it with Stuart, Thom, Anna and Hugh.

People were keen to know what is planned for their town over the short-to-medium and long term. The types of things people wanted to discuss were issues that affected the future of Callander, and the National Park in general, that included infrastructure, land for business and industry, how to make transport sustainable and affordable, housing and general road traffic.

Anna, Emily and our LIVE Park Young Placemaker, Louise, captured the views and ideas of people at the event. While we were busy talking to people attending the event, our friends at Planning Aid for Scotland held a series of interactive workshops with young people from Balfron High and Callander Youth Project

These young people discussed lots of topics that affect covering changing environments (past and future), housing, place-making, and national parks.  Support worker Megs and Irene from Planning Aid sum up the benefit of getting young people involved in planning:
