Work is underway to transform Tarbet Pier Picnic site, West Loch Lomond, into a low-carbon destination. A masterplan has been developed for the popular site to alleviate visitor pressures, improve biodiversity and help visitors embrace low emission travel.
The first phase of the project, worth £2.1million, will include:
- Establishing the site as a sustainable travel hub maximising the connections between road, rail, active travel and water taxi routes
- Planting more native woodland and wildflowers
- Expanding facilities with a new shelter, outdoor furniture and viewpoint
- A cycle hub with repair station, covered cycle parking and e-bike charging points
- More accessible pedestrian facilities
- EV charging infrastructure and network upgrades
- Improved motorhome facilities including better parking and waste disposal.
