Multi-Use Trails and Safety

You can explore the multi-use trails within the National Park in so many ways, as they have been designed for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and adaptive riders. Whether you’re using an e-bike, child trailer, or simply enjoying nature, share the space responsibly for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Safety First, Fun Always

Keep trails safe by following these simple tips:

  • Ride at a controlled speed and be aware of others.
  • Use a bell or call out when approaching.
  • Give way when needed to create a positive experience for all.

Trail Etiquette for Everyone

  • Cyclists: Slow down and alert others when passing.
  • Walkers, runners & horse riders: Please move to one side if you can and it is safe to do so.
  • Stay cautious at blind corners and busy intersections.

By following these guidelines, we can ensure a safe, friendly, and enjoyable outdoor experience for all.

Find out more about the key points within the Scottish Outdoor Access Code relevant to off-road cycling and mountain biking at the Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland website.

They also have a great video with advice around sharing paths with horse riders.
