Robert Marshall – National Park Volunteer

Robert Marshall’s deep-rooted appreciation and dedication to the West Highland Way has made him an indispensable positive force in the National Park.

Volunteering for over seven years, Robert has worked tirelessly to protect and maintain the iconic paths that many 1000’s of adventurers from around the world walk each year.

With an extraordinary 99 crossings of the West Highland Way under his belt, Robert is on the brink of his 100th journey, one he will make with his family in to mark the occasion – a true testament to his passion for the outdoors.

His connection to nature runs deep, “Nature is freedom, beauty, fresh air and life. Everything is stunning including the rain. Water is the most stunning element on planet earth, and we are lucky to have an abundance of it” – which explains why Robert’s favourite place in the National Park is Loch Lomond.

As part of our 2025 Nature Campaign, Robert’s commitment inspires others to contribute to the preservation of nature by understanding its fragility and taking action to protect it. His story is one of dedication, environmental stewardship, and a desire to leave the landscape better than he found it.
