Accessible Outdoor Recreation

The National Park Authority is committed to developing outdoor recreation opportunities for all. Through partnership working with key organisations and businesses, we continue to work towards providing more opportunities to enjoy our spectacular scenery and green spaces.

Disability Scotland has developed some excellent information available online (including a guide to the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park!). The Disability Scotland website has a resource of suggested suitable trails.

Forestry & Land Scotland also have a section on their website for forest routes and trails.

Businesses can support visitors through signposting customers to information sources such as those noted above.

There are also a number of excellent businesses which offer a range of cycles for hire including wheelchair bikes, family and companion cycles, tandem bikes and side-by-side bikes.

For people with disabilities, outdoor activities offer exercise, fun, mobility and independence. However, there are health and safety factors to consider to enable some outdoor activities to be done safely and with adequate levels of support from trained staff.
